Sound is one of the areas where both venues and screen producers are demanding more skilled specialists – working on live events and broadcast, digital content, and stage, as well as film and TV production.

This programme is highly focussed on industry needs and you will enjoy working with visiting lecturers from large producing and presenting theatres, as well as professionals working on BBC and ITV productions, and collaborating with other CCAD students.

Working alongside the content creators of Film, TV & Theatre Production, you will work to enhance your skills across two years on both stage and screen productions giving you a competitive advantage when you graduate.

What will you study on Sound for Stage & Screen?

In your first year (Level Four) you will explore:
• Core technical production skills
• Introduction to sound recording practice
• Introduction to theatre sound
• Location sound

In your second year (Level Five) you will develop:
• Live projects (theatre or Film)
• Advanced Sound practice
• Advance Theatre Sound practice
• Independent sound recording for 16mm film
• History and context of the visual industries

In our brand new facilities (opening September 2017) you will get the opportunity to work with leading edge, industry standard, kit including:
Studio and location sound recording equipment,
• Media Composer (including Pro Tools and Davinci)
• Sound mixing desk
• Location mixers
• Broadcast quality mics
• Sound proof studio

On our campus we have a proscenium arch theatre with lighting gallery; double height TV studios offering real scope to explore lighting techniques. We also have close
working relationships with regional venues where you will get involved with productions and live projects.
In 2017 CCAD is opening The Bus Sheds – a commercial sound stage facility next door to our teaching facilities which will be one of the largest such facilities in the UK.
